Coyote in Provence The Coyote Series Volume 2 Dianne Harman Books
As soon as I finished Blue Coyote Motel, I started right in on this one because I had to know what happened to Maria. When I think of where she has been, her upbringing, and the trials and prejudices that she has had to face in her life, I really feel for her character. Despite the fact that she is now living in one of the most beautiful places on earth and has enough money that she doesn't have to work ever again, she is not happy. Living in exile, away from her family and all that she knows and loves can get very lonely, which is the only reason I'm sure that she gets involved with the very type of person that could easily blow her cover and find out who she really is and why she is on the run. Of course, the same person could very well be her knight in shining armor and could be the very thing that she needs for her to find true and ultimate happiness. The book sets things up nicely for a third in the sequel and although I got a bit thrown with the introduction of new people and a completely different story line, I really like where the story is going and I think I know how things will ultimately resolve. I urge the author to finish and release book three already!Product details

Coyote in Provence The Coyote Series Volume 2 Dianne Harman Books Reviews
Enjoy Romance, Mystery, and French Food à la Carte
In the sequel to Blue Coyote Motel, gorgeous Maria Brooks has changed her name to cover her stormy past. Now Elena Johnson, she is trying to blend into small Provence village life in the French countryside.
Local village gossips are in a frenzy of speculation. They find rich American widow Elena irresistible fodder for their tittle-tattle. The more Elena tries to keep her distance, the more determined the gossips are to unearth her secrets. When Elena takes a job she doesn't need in the tiny bakery, the gossips circle her like sharks around a wounded dolphin.
Handsome detective Jordan Kramer is on the trail of an international art thief. Until he met the mysterious Elena, Jordan believed a wife and children would be obstacles in the path of his traveling and his plan to visit all French restaurants. Food, art, and wine had become his life, until he met the delicious Elena.
Dianne Harman's excellent book Coyote in Provence, second in the Coyote Series, continues the adventures of Maria, now Elena. The beautifully written romantic suspense also incorporates art thievery and mysterious Afghan girls. With believable characters and lively dialogue, Ms. Harman engages the reader's interest.
The book reminded me of the legendary Rex Stout. Mr. Stout included gourmet food in his Nero Wolfe mysterious. He even published a Nero Wolfe cookbook. The talented Ms. Harman has created a story to appeal to the romance, mystery, and food epicures.
I enjoyed catching up with Maria and learning what happened after she escaped the clutches of her husband who had gone insane, whom she had been forced to kill in self-defense. It was enjoyable seeing her fall in love again and I was intrigued as to what would happen when she learned he was a detective from California.
I also met a new cast of characters; at first, I thought there must have been a mistake since there was a total switch of storyline. However, not too much time had passed when I realized the new cast of characters were integral to the story.
Coyote in Provence kept me turning pages, losing far too much sleep. I just had to see what happened at the end. Of course, the next day, I started reading the third book of the series, Cornered Coyote.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s whenever I pick up a Dianne Harman book, I know I’ll be in for a treat. Her characters are always extremely well developed, her pace so flowing the reading becomes effortless, and her plots so intriguing, you find yourself suspending your life until you’ve finished her books.
Case in point COYOTE IN PROVENCE, Ms. Harman’s sequel to “Blue Coyote Motel”. Peppered with enticing descriptions of the south of France, with its idyllic wine vineyards, narrow, winding, cobble-stoned streets, it’s oh-so-charmant shops, restaurants and, in this case, petite art galleries, one feels as if one were on a marvelous vacation, where mouth-watering French cuisine is a way of life.
But that’s not all. Very quickly, an art theft mystery evolves, where the ‘bad’ guys in reality turn out to be not so bad after all; where goodwill intentions have motivated their actions, and saving little Afghanistan girls is tantamount to all decent instincts. Powerful descriptions of Afghanistan life and its culture are extremely moving, and further propel the reader onward to make sure everything will turn out for the best.
And romance? You bet! Elena, one of the main characters from the first book in this series, gets involved with Jordan, the detective assigned to finding the stolen paintings. Their match is very engaging, and together they go on a journey of not only love but also the discovery of what is truly important in life. Although I also suggest reading the first in this series, this book can definitely stand on its own. Highly recommended!
This is the second book in the series. Book 1 was wonderful and I like Coyote in Provence (Coyote Series Book 2) by Dianne Harman even more. I love how this author grabs you from the first line. “Since arriving in Provence several months earlier, Elena had avoided contact with people, afraid someone would discover her secret.” Why is she in France? What secret? How is she avoiding people? I had to know everything. And Harman leads us along this suspenseful story while infusing the pages with great food and wine, romance and mystery. Lovely settings, and an addictive writing style combined with a well-crafted plot make this book another winner. I can’t wait for the next one!
